Tuesday, May 13, 2014—The Brunswick and Glynn County Economic Development Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of Missy Neu to its Board of Governors. Missy Neu is Associate Broker and Vice President of New Business Development at Hodnett Cooper Real Estate, Inc. Her appointment to the Board of Governors is a continuation of Neu’s long history of community service and marks the first time a woman has been appointed to the Board.

Throughout her successful twenty-year career in real estate, Missy has also volunteered her time toward making a measurable impact on the community and its economic development. Neu has served on the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Executive Committee, was Co-Chair of the High School Graduation Blueprint Implementation Commission and has been on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Coastal Georgia and the College of Coastal Georgia. Neu has also held numerous leadership roles at local, state and national REALTOR associations, making certain our community has a voice in issues that impact Glynn County.

As a REALTOR and Associate Broker, Missy Neu is a Life Member and Oglethorpe Member of the Golden Isles Association of REALTORS “Circle of Excellence,” was named “Realtor of the Year” in 2001 and 2006, was President of the Golden Isles Association of REALTORS (GIAR) in 2001 and 2005 and is a two-time recipient of the GIAR Dartee Gaynor Award for Community Involvement & Leadership.

The Brunswick and Glynn County Economic Development Authority promotes economic prosperity for Brunswick and Glynn County by assisting expansion of existing industries and securing new diversified industries to locate to Glynn County creating job opportunities and capital investments. “Missy Neu is an incredible addition to the Development Authority team,” said Chuck Scragg, Executive Director, “with her professional experience and vast knowledge of Glynn County’s business, industry and economy, she will play a key role in shaping a strong business climate where industries can thrive.”

The Board of Directors consists of a diverse group of five individuals who represent various sectors of the local economy. Board Members provide insight to ensure Development Authority actions create a strong business climate for the existing industrial base and build a favorable environment that will attract new target industries. Three governing bodies choose the Board Member applicants, the Brunswick City Commissioners, Glynn County Commissioners and the Development Authority. Missy Neu will join Mel Baxter, Chairman/CEO of United Community Bank, Bruce Dixon, President of The Dixon Management Group, Inc, Cedric King, Human Resources and Public Relations Manager at Pinova and Ron Roberts, Vice President of Finance and Accounting at Sea Island Acquisition, LLC on the Board of Directors.
