GRAD Certification Begins on Gateways Industrial Park

Brunswick and Glynn County has a lot to offer and is about to be even more attractive to prospective businesses. The process has begun for designating the Gateways Industrial Park as a Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD) Certified Site.

Glynn County’s Premiere Site – Gateways Industrial Park

Other than the Brunswick – Golden Isles Airport, the Gateways Industrial Park is perhaps Glynn County’s best location for prospective businesses.

The site is located near one of I-95’s last completely undeveloped interchanges, Exit 42. As such, the Industrial Park has extremely quick access to I95. In fact, getting on I95 takes less than a minute and the route is completely free of traffic signals, stops, and heavy traffic. The Georgia Department of Transportation also just finished a major construction project that upgraded the overpass at Exit 42 and added LED lighting to the Interchange.

Logistical advantages aren’t the only strength of the Gateways Industrial Park. The 70 acre park is 100% owned by the Brunswick and Glynn County Development Authority and is immediately adjacent to another 687 acres that are available for development at the Tradewinds Industrial Park. Utilities are in place or nearby and the site has some of the highest elevation in Glynn County.

Gateways Industrial Park Advantages Recap:

  • 100% owned by the Development Authority
  • Almost immediate access to I95
  • Newly completed Interchange
  • Interstate frontage
  • Utilities on site or nearby
  • Upgrades actively being made to water system
  • High elevation (relatively speaking)

The GRAD Certification sets a standard for industrial parks which is a huge benefit for Developers and Prospects.

Saves Time

Developing a great site takes time. There’s a lot that goes into determining if a location is going to work for a project or not. Having the GRAD Certification goes through the process of permitting and researching the site’s viability. This simple process greatly reduces construction time. Saving six months or more for the Prospect is not uncommon.

Eliminates Risks

In addition to saving time, the GRAD Certification eliminates risk for the company. When a prospective business is investing a significant amount of money into a new location, they must be 100% that nothing unexpected is going to happen.

Sends a Message

The GRAD Certification signals to Prospects, State Project Managers, and Site Selection Consultants that Glynn County is serious about economic development. After all, why would a business invest in a community if they’re not willing to invest in themselves?

truckIdeal Businesses

The Gateways Industrial Park is completely undeveloped and ideal for a variety of industry sectors – anything with a need for easy Interstate access really. The question to ask is not what is ideal for the site but what is ideal for Glynn County.

Brunswick and Glynn County has a strong advantage in the Aerospace Industry Sector which is best accommodated at the Brunswick – Golden Isles Airport. Glynn County is located directly in between the Port of Savannah and the Port of Jacksonville which makes warehouse and distribution attractive for the right companies. Glynn County also has a high concentration of manufacturing and food production.

Time Line for Completion

The process has begun and we expect to be GRAD certification process to take a total of two months.  Thomas & Hutton has certified several GRAD Sites throughout Georgia and will be handling Gateways Industrial Park.
