The Glynn County school system works hand-in hand with the College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA) and area businesses to develop curriculum to ensure that its graduates are prepared for the workplace. An example of the county's dedication to sustaining a viable workforce is the formation of the new Golden Isles Career Academy, which opened in August 2009. Business parters, College of Coastal Georgia, and the public school system have aligned curriculum that will allow students to jump start their careers while still in high school.
Work Ready Initiative
Curriculum in high skill, high wage and high demand jobs will be added as needed to support the region’s economic growth. Glynn County is also an active participant in Governor Purdue’s Work Ready Initiative. This initiative is coordinated through the Altahama Technical College to establish Glynn County as a Work-Ready Community.
Georgia Quick Start Program
Since 1967, Georgia's Quick Start program has developed award winning training systems for thousands of expansion and relocation projects implemented by a wide range of leading manufacturing and service industries. Their experience includes training workers to assemble intricate aircraft components, manufacture a wide variety of plastic and metal products and field calls from customers as diverse as online investors, diagnostic equipment users and home warranty holders. Having served such a diverse group of industries, a dedicated Quick Start liaison at College of Coastal Georgia can help analyze your processes and corporate culture to determine the optimum blend of training services to support your business. Quick Start provides both the resources and expertise essential to new, expanding or existing facilities. And for qualified businesses, these services are provided free of charge.
Georgia Quick Start Program
Golden Isle Career Academy (GICA) present a new approach to learning by offering career preparatory opportunities for high school age students and college programs for citizens of all ages across the Glynn County community through its partnership with Altamaha Technical College.
GICA was created to build a growing partnership between the Glynn County School System and the regional business and industrial communities of southeast coastal Georgia. GICA graduates provide a viable skilled workforce to businesses in a variety of occupational disciplines.
GICA is not a vocational school, although its primary function is to provide hands-on career-driven learning and guidance. GICA’s Career Pathways Programs have been uniquely designed to provide essential learning tracks to 18 distinctive career curriculums – some of which are college preparatory focused through the Dual Enrollment Program, where students can actually earn college credits while still in high school.
